Professional Designations
Helping you in fulfilling the educational requirements. Many courses offered by the McMaster University Centre for Continuing Education will support you in fulfilling the educational requirements of affiliated professional associations and institutes.
Study Online
Did you know you can complete many of our programs completely online. Our online programs provide flexibility, and allow you to study when it works for your schedule.
Blended Learning
Teaching methods may include weekly readings, lecture, facilitated discussion boards, group and individual projects, assignments and quizzes.
You will be interacting with your classmates and your instructor each week either in-person, as per the schedule, or online. Refer to course schedule notes section for exact number of in-person sessions versus online sessions. In-person sessions will take place at McMaster Continuing Education.
You should expect to allocate approximately six to eight hours per week to complete your work, but you don't need to log on at a specific time.
A pre-course email with information on the course, course materials, etc. will be sent approximately 7 days before the course start date. Courses are made "live" in A2L 3 days prior to course start date.
Undergraduate Learning Option
Through McMaster Continuing Education, McMaster undergraduate students have the chance to take courses that complement their degree studies. These courses:
can, with the permission of the student’s Faculty, be used as elective credits within the student’s degree
can be taken as part of a McMaster certificate or diploma
are generally offered as (i) 9-unit programs called Certificates of Professional Learning; (ii) 15-unit programs called Certificates; and (iii) 24-unit programs called Diplomas.
International Students
International students are welcome to participate in McMaster continuing education programs online or in person. Please ensure you review McMaster University's English Language Proficiency requirements prior to enrolling.
Course fees and admission requirements are the same for international and domestic (Canadian) students.
Study permits are required for in-person programs longer than six months. We can issue you a Letter of Acceptance of Intent (depending on your program) for you to provide to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) with your study permit application.
