Unique Features:
Campus
The stately 20-room, three-story house was designed by John H.G. Russell and built in 1902 for Sir James and his family. After the United Church took over the property in 1929, the house was used as the girls’ residence until the early 1970s. The house received historical designation from the City of Winnipeg in 1999.
Co-curricular activities
Every weekend an optional activity is planned for students such as skating or rock climbing. Students may opt to go to the movies, bake cookies, or visit a friend’s house. Weekends can be cultural or educational, busy or quiet. All boarding students are members of Winnipeg Winter Club, a nearby premiere fitness facility. Students have access to tennis, swimming, and fitness equipment. Additionally, students are encouraged to take private music instruction, dance lessons at Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and more.
Culture
Students will experience four very distinct seasons throughout the year. In September the leaves change colour and soon the snow will fall. As average temperatures dip to -25 Celsius in the winter, the Red River Mutual Trail freezes over for ice skating. In March the snow will start to melt and green grass will sprout again. Soon we will be planning outdoor BBQs when the average June temperature is +25 Celsius.
